This one-legged individual was photographed early in the morning at the Scotts Creek State Beach.</P>

  • <H2><b>Storm in the Yucatan Pass</b></H2> <P ALIGN=LEFT>On July 4th, we encountered a tropical storm while sailing through the Yucatan Straight (between the Yucatan Peninsula and Cuba). This storm became a hurrican in the Gulf of Mexico, so we were really lucky. Seconds after this shot I was soaked in sea water, luckily my camera was not!</P>
  • <h2><b>The <i>JOIDES Resolution</i></b></h2> <P ALIGN=LEFT>The <i>JOIDES Resolution</i> is a drilling vessel operated by the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program. It's mission is to study Earth's history and the structure or our planet. This shot shows the JR drilling in the Gulf of Mexico during Expedition 308, and it was shot from a rubber boat.</P>

  • <H2><b>A sign of Land</b></H2> <P ALIGN=LEFT>One day hundreds of dragonflies landed on the ship. This is a sign that land is close, and these poor insects were blown offshore by winds. Their only prospect is to finish as food for the fishes.</P>
